Alicja Kwade, born in 1979, is a Berlin-based artist known for her sculptures, installations, film, photography, and works on paper that challenge perception and scientific concepts. Her practice involves reflection, repetition, and the transformation of everyday objects to question reality and social structures.
She has exhibited at institutions like the Louisiana Museum, Whitechapel Gallery, and Hamburger Bahnhof. Her large-scale public works include a 2019 installation at The Met, evoking a solar system above Manhattan, and Au Cours Des Mondes (2022) at Place Vendôme, Paris. She also participated in the 57th Venice Biennale and Desert X AlUla.
Kwade’s works are held in major collections, including the Centre Pompidou, Hirshhorn Museum, and LACMA, etc.
