Nibha Sikander

Nibha Sikander earned her Bachelors and Masters in Visual Arts from the Maharaja Sayajirao University, Vadodara (2006, 2008), where she was awarded the Nasreen Mohamedi Scholarship (2004-2005).

Sikander’s first solo exhibition titled Wandering Violin Mantis was presented at TARQ, Mumbai, in 2019. She has been part of several group exhibitions, some of which include signals…瞬息: signals…here and there, curated by Billy Tang and Celia Ho, at Para Site, Hong Kong (2023); Zero to Hundred, HH Art Spaces, Goa (2023); Ephemeroptera: Time After Time, presented by TARQ and Gallery XXL, at TARQ, Mumbai (2023); Mycelial Legacies I and II, curated by Deeksha Nath at Anant Art, New Delhi and JNAF, Mumbai (2023); The Inner Life of Things: Around Anatomies and Armatures, Kiran Nadar Museum of Art, Noida (2022); ALCHEMY: Explorations in Indigo, Indigo Art Museum, Ahmedabad (2019); Beyond Borders, curated by the CONA Foundation at the Whitworth Gallery/Museum, Manchester, England (2017-18); A New Space, Nazar Art Gallery, Vadodara (2016); A Construal of Mourning and Rage, Emami Chisel Art, Kolkata (2014); Group show at Studio X, as part of the Paradise Lodge International Artist Residency, Mumbai (2013); Beauty and the Beast, Matthieu Foss Gallery, curated by Anne Maniglier, Mumbai (2011); Show Girls!, Strand Art Room Gallery, curated by Anne Maniglier, Mumbai (2009); From our Cabinets to the Museum, Open Eyed Dreams Gallery, curated by Aparna Roy Baliga, Kochi (2009); and Class of 2008, curated by Bhavna Khakkar, Art Konsult Gallery, New Delhi (2008-09).

She has taken part in residencies namely Paradise Lodge International Artist Residency, Lonavala, Mumbai (November, 2013); Sandarbh International Artists Residency Programme, Jaipur (November, 2012); and Residency at the American School of Bombay, Mumbai (March - May, 2010).

She has recently participated in Art Mumbai, Mumbai (2023); Art Basel Hong Kong, Discoveries section (2023); and India Art Fair, Delhi (2024, 2020) represented by TARQ, Mumbai.

Sikander’s works are a part of the collection of the Durjoy Bangladesh Foundation; Ark Foundation for the Arts, Vadodara; and the Kiran Nadar Museum of Art, New Delhi.

Sikander currently works and lives in Murud-Janjira and Mumbai.
